The development of highly digitalized, electric vehicles and the corresponding advances in Automated Driving Systems (ADS) have clear impacts on the power consumption of vehicles. But how significant are these impacts and what contributions can already be seen in science and industry today? We often receive such questions from our industry partners and visitors.

Our new publication, โ€œDebunking the Myth of High Consumption: Power Realities in Autonomous Vehiclesโ€, reveals that the power consumption of early industrial solutions (as well as our BeIntelli ADS) is estimated to be significantly lower than the public perception. At the same time, previous projections and assumptions in research articles do not seem to fully match the reality.

The paper was presented at this year’s IEEE IV conference by Marc Guerreiro Augusto and Jonas Krug, who got to try out the Seoul Autonomous Night Bus from SUM Inc. and get a demo from Seoul Robotics, besides fruitful discussions at the conference.
